Social studies tutoring

History and social studies tutoring

Social studies is a lot of reading and a lot of writing. A teacher-led group of up to 4 helps students connect events into a story they remember, and turn it into strong written answers.

What we cover

Including:

  • Global History and Geography
  • U.S. History and Government
  • Civics, economics and current events
  • Document-based questions (DBQs) and essay writing
  • Unit tests, finals and the NYS social studies Regents

How a session works

Every session is 60 minutes, in person, with at most 4 students and one real classroom teacher. Students bring what they're working on that week (homework, notes, a test coming up) and the session is built around it.

  • $40 per student, per session. No packages or contracts.
  • Groups of up to 4, so every question gets answered.
  • Book seats for your child, siblings or friends in one go.
  • Text and email confirmations and reminders.

Questions parents ask

What's a DBQ, and can you help with it?

A document-based question asks students to read several sources and write an essay using them. It's a big part of social studies tests, and we practice it step by step.

Why groups of exactly four?

Four is small enough that every student gets real attention and every question gets answered, and big enough that students learn from each other's questions too. It also keeps the price at $40 per student.

Can I book for more than one student?

Yes. Book seats for your own kids, a friend, or a full group of 4. Anyone can also grab a single seat and the rest of the group fills in with other students.

What if the group doesn't fill up?

The session still happens at the same price, $40 per student, with however many students signed up.

One good question can change everything.

Seats are $40 per student, in groups of 4.
